when you stay at home do you mean literally dont leave the house or do you mean look after the children and house i.e. a housewife?

Women can do either, they can even run their own business if they like. Working in a job is slavery for men and women, it is promoted as freedom by the corporations when it is not. A worker gives 40 or 50years of their life to the corporation, usually the contract is one-sided with all the power given to the corporation, After a life time of work people may get a pension, but most of their savings are eaten up, so after all that work they have very little left. Islam prefers and promotes self-employment, pre-modern Muslim societies had guilds that allowed people to be skilled and self employed and they produced beautiful products reflecting the Beauty of Allah

. Everyone working day and night for a corporation reduces the wages of everyone.
