aww, i am thinking of purchasing Muqaddimah ibn al-Salah - Introduction to the Science of Hadith ,which is avialable in english. before i purchase i have a few queries, firstly how authentic is this book? what do our (deobandi) scholars think of it? and also if anyone has this in english transalated by Eerik Dickinson, can you please tell me what standard english is used i.e basic or high level?is it full transaltion of the original or has bits been missed? jazakallah

Muqadama Ibn Salah, although and entre into the science of hadith, yet is not a book for the beginners. It is taught in the takhasus levels. The simple reason being that it is one of the early texts on the topic and hence not clear and uptodate with the istilahat...

We normally start off with Nukhbatul Fikr and it sharah Nuzhatun Nazr, both are available in english too. But even before than we did Introduction to the sciences of Hadith. Even Mufti Desai Saheb db. has a small booklet on the issue. Kherul Usool, which is also translated is a good pocket size glossary to these mustalahaat. There are a couple of arabic entry level books which are very good. InshAllah I will get the names for you.
