Thank you for your reply. I understand better what you are saying. To me, there is a difference in an "absence" of good and in a "withholding" of good. I don't believe all evil results from a withholding of good. A withholding of good indicates that the good exists, but is held back, or suppressed, and this in turn creates evil. Evil can be caused by a withholding of good, but the withholding of good is not a necessary condition. I disagree that the original intention is always for the benefit of oneself. I think that can be an explanation, but it is not always the case. You could argue that I am wrong, because of the endorphins released when one does evil, thus providing an unconscious, biological reinforcement and motivation. I will have to come back to this later.
