I dont think majority of Muslims in Pakistan know much about maulana maududi, just that he's a controversial figure people should stay away from, and thats what the people keep repeating.

Reminds me of the Quraish telling other Arabs to not even listen to the Prophet, so much so that Tufayl ibn Amr stuffed his ears with cotton. And no, I'm not comparing Maududi with the Prophet, but just saying take the good, and leave the bad. A lot of my family which did not pray and were complete secularists became practicing because of his books, but it was hard to get them to read the books in the first place because of how much they abhorred him without any good reason.
