I’d like to believe that the debate has gone beyond these petty examples.

The same thing happens when people quote Sh Qardhawi allowing music. The debate in no way advocates going and listening to Elton John and Tupac.

Anyway, television is widespread in all muslim countries. What the Jamiat is saying, is that in those countries, senior ulama have appeared on television and this has lead them to look for a middle path in neither allowing nor condemning Ulama for appearing on television.
