Brothers, is there a sign that anyone is becoming 'obsessed' with politics?
Let us look at some symptoms of obsession:
* abandoning or neglecting relationships in pursuit of politics ( eg. have you talked to your mother or father recently?),
* missing prayers or ibaadah due to politics,
* feeling overwhelmed due to politics.
Otherwise, believers should be acutely aware of "siyasasa islami: the affairs of the Muslim people".
We should no longer be fooled like we have been for decades if not centuries.
These are some of the most intense times than I can recall in the last 20 years. Now is the time for believers to be keenly aware, to know what Allah and His Messenger (saaw) expect of them, to know what to avoid in the service of Allah, and for what to plan and expect.
That said, NNoor is right that believers should have a balanced understanding. We must know how to strengthen our Deen, our sabr, our Taqwa, and how to find Sakina through ibaadullah. Without this, we can become overwhelmed and in despair.
And Allah knows best.
