You are way off base sister.

Sure, some join because they can't get a better job.

But most join for various other reasons; to make it a career, to save up money for college, or to learn a skill to use after they get back out into civilian life. Such as, vehicle mechanic, military police, medical personal, air traffic controller, etc.

Myself, I was in the U.S. Army and used the G.I. Bill benefits when I got out to attend and graduate from a university with a B.A.
from what ive researched many people joined the army when there was no war or postings
fahrenheit 911 showed what you state above is true

its not about war or being a soldier

its the way the army recruiters glamorised the soldier for youre country image

i have personally met and had dinner with an ex guantanamo guard in leeds ,many soldiers had no idea what they were getting to

and i think its very admirable many vets now openly expose warcrimes even their own, and become antiwar
