Asslamo Allaikum,

Question for Ulama:

Ghazwa is a technical term in Islam for a war in which Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam) himself participated.

Why is this war (in India) called Ghazwa by Rasul-ullah (Sallaho Alaihe Wassallam)?
Walikum-us-salam.

There are two types of ghazwat.

Ghazwat-e-Waqiya: These include those wars which were fought during the times of Rasoolulah (SAWW). These can be further divided into "ghazwa" and "surriyya".

Ghazwat-e-Mo'uudah: These include the future wars which have been predicted in the hadeeths of Rasoolulah (SAWW).

Please have a look at the attached image, where I have gathered the required information.
