On the positive side she managed to say that it was not the partition of India but of Punjab and Bengal.
I do not think that the host (Zainab Badawi? Is she a Muslim?) or Dawkins would get the purport that the British divided Muslims into three parts! And you are right people should know before hand into whom they are bumping. Another good thing is that BD got some slot - you only here inconvenient things about BD. Also ZB did acknowledge something about women's role in BD (and P) politics.

Finally how come a Bhutto becomes a Booto?
Also ZB did acknowledge something about women's role in BD (and P) politics Well about women's role in the politics on the subcontinent its one of those very often used phrases media personalities keep on using. Women's status and social illnesses is a separate and relative issue .

Just because there are women in supposedly influential roles ( politics is not that simple ) don't make women's issues better all of a sudden. Same as just because you have an african american president in USA don't make race relations and problems of Minority community and reality on the ground go away.

' A barometer of how advanced a nation is ' said by the interviewer , really? just
because she comes from a Muslim country ? And she negates the possibility these social ills
exist in Non muslim population by suggestion.

And you hear the minister going on about things she read on her leisure time , on islam , budhism and Hinduism and it had nothing to do with the question ( Sarah Palin moment there ) .

As I said before most people in BD think she should move on to other things that she is
better at
.

another good thing is that BD got some slot - you only here inconvenient things about BD. The way these things usually happen is as follows and I am talking from personal experience
and from what I have heard .

I am sure this is the case in other countries as well especially in India and Pakistan.

The honorable minister wants to go on a trip of official dealings , she includes some of her family members and associates in the 20 odd team . She makes sure she has enough time and opportunity to do some 'site seeing ' and shopping as well on her government paid tax payer visit.

She gets diplomatic status and privileges that goes with it .

She asks one of her sidekicks to arrange an interview so she gets some exposure 'back home' .

She ends up putting her foot in her mouth.

The whole thing was poorly managed by all concerned , the way incoherent and unprepared
she was says that is exactly what happened .
You get the same hints from 'ummm I don't think so' .... ' Not as much as anywhere else ' ....

'You only hear inconvenient things about BD' because the world media conveniently 'type casts'
certain countries for certain roles .

That don't mean they do not deserve it but what I find frustrating is politicians of the subcontinent are more concerned about their media image at cheese and wine parties in Washington then what their own people think about it.

I do not think that the host (Zainab Badawi? Is she a Muslim?) or Dawkins would get the purport that the British divided Muslims into three parts! Yeah , if the match was right someone would have put Dawkins in his place . The strange
creature named religious nationalism was given birth by the British and we are still paying
the price for it.
