I totally agree Muslims have generally become a lazy lot, more inclined towards taking short cuts, and its indeed due to lack of education. However, the sentence in bold above is certainly not why Muslims are powerless. The problem with that sentence is that there are not even enough Muslims doing (shouting/calling (wadu) Allah (swt) the whole day) that sincerely. I think just calling Allah (swt) the whole day can work wonders as well, as Allah (swt) will guide these people towards working hard, and inventing things that would benefit humanity. Another point is to raise intellectuals, we need educated mothers (teachers) both in terms of deen and duniya, who can clearly explain as well as challenge and nuture an inquisitive mind.

Here shout meaning is something else. No matter if we do call Allah 24/7 we can't even fulfill the fardh upon us

Anyway, I had asked my Sheikh the same thing about Jews and he said that they are the children of Prophet (I forgot his [P.B.U.H.] name). And he (PBUH) asked Allah that never put my generation in hunger, that is the reason of it.
You may see, right now China is becoming the World Super Power. But that country has isolated everything, even their internet too. They centralized it. On the other hand Jew use to have contact with every country and they know their cultures very well. This helps them in the mentality of the people too
