My thoughts as a non-Muslim about lack of Muslim scientists. - Muslims have many children/start to have children early -> not much time to study science - Muslims spend a lot of time praying (5 times) and studying Koran -> not much time to study science - Muslims believe this earthly life is just a test, real life starts after death -> what's the point to improve life here? - Muslims believe Allah decides everything/guides everything -> makes people passive - Muslims are often anti-science e.g. "evolution is evil/a lie" - Talents of Muslims women are not supported enough, they are supposed to take care of children - Inbreeding (marrying first cousins) seems to be common, which is bad for the genes and thus health and intelligence, which scientists need. A lot of really talented people are mixtures of many different races (due to gene "refreshment") I guess this post gets deleted quickly, which is another problem. Islam is not allowed to be viewed critical and therefore changes are slow/don't take place -> Nothing will change.
