Though celibacy is permissible in Islam, it is looked down upon (highly disliked) because our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) married, and so did the rest of the Prophets (peace be upon them).
Every Muslim is supposed to follow Prophetic traditions as closely as possible and marriage is an extremely emphasized prophetic tradition. There are many social and spiritual benefits in Islam for getting married. In fact, getting married is in and of itself an act of worship, because you are following the footsteps of the Prophets (peace be upon them) and the pious predecessors.
If one thinks that he can control his sexual desires then he may choose to practice celibacy, but if he fears that he will fall into sin, then marriage becomes obligatory on him.
