Al-Halaal wa'l Haraam...is a poorly researched book. He is not Salafi...more of a free thinker. And although controversial, he is not AS controversial as some believe. Hope I confused you further.

Haha, you sure did. A lot of things you can read about him say that he is Salafi, why do you say otherwise?
