I'm sure that Sheikh Suhaib Webb once said Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi was an Athari on his website, yet most others are saying he is an Ashari.
Could he hold the view of the Atharis in some areas and the Asharis in others? this sort of thing is not unknown in scholars who set their own course like he does, yes?
Maybe he is like Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah who Asharis are sure is Ashari and some Salafis think he is Athari, and if you read what he himself has to say on the matter then you are still left not knowing because he discusses things is such a measured and balanced way?
Also at one time few had a problem with calling the Islamic Movement brothers Salafis - including themselves. Its a broad term and you have to remember that one of Imam Hassan al Banna's (ra) goals in founding the Muslim Brotherhood was to bring together the Salafis and Sufis and work to promote Islam rather than bicker.
