Asalaamu Alaikum,

From memory, there is a difference between a Prophet and a Messenger.

There are quite a few different opinions of the scholars one of them in tafseer al-Aaloosi 17/157:
"A messenger is the one who receives the revelation of new law (shari'ah) and a prophet is the one who is sent to confirm the law one who came before him."

Yasir Qadhi in his Aqeedah 101 class mention that the most correct opinion is:
"Prophets were sent to a nation that already believed in 'the message', while messengers were sent to a nation that have not yet believed in 'the message'.".

I believe Adam(pbuh) was a Prophet.
