As your father is not Muslim (yet ) it would probably be better to first advise and convince him to bring Iman in the fundamentals of Islam, then tackle that issue say, later on.

polygamy is a very secondary issue

sister are you having this discussion with your father because you are planning to become someone's second wife and your father is against it?
