By Stanley you actually mean Stanley Lane-Poole. He is considered to have an overall positive attitude towards Islamic history.
I started reading this book but the western scholarship is laboured and thus I ran out of stream in the details about Kurds and Tikrit itself. I got to give it a new try.
Qazi Bahauddin of Salahuddin Ayyubi (RA) wrote his story. That should available in Arabic because the French have got a translation of that from Arabic. The English version of the Biography is prepared from the French.
It will be nice to get the Urdu and English versions directly from Arabic.
There is one more antique biography of Salahuddin Ayyubi (RA) but I do not remember the name at this moment. Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi (RA) used these two biographies for his description.
