Urdu newspapers today use the Nasta'leeq script, previously they used the naskh script (which is what BismikAllahumma posted I think)

Naskh has been rendered well in the urdu Naskh Asiatype font used by bbc urdu. I haven't come across any good renditions of Nasta'leeq.

Among the generic fonts Microsoft sans serif and tahoma support urdu-specific characters. IMHO Microsoft Sans Serif is the better one of the two.
