I've shown this news to a Yemeni brother who lives here. He is saying that, those are not Al Qaida, rather they are the fighters of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh. They are just using the name of AQ to regain power, nothing else. Can anyone shed some light on this matter?

On what basis does he make those claims. These are clearly mujahideen, and there is no reason to doubt their word. If they claim to be Al Qaeda, then we will believe them unless someone can provide a satisfactory reason not to. He has to bring forth his proof as to why he doubts them, since our proof (to believe them) is their upright character
