Colonel Muammar Qaddhafi, may Allah (SWT) do justice with him, was amongst rare personalities who openly invited people to Islam.
Unfortunately people took it as some sort of joke.
Including Muslims.
Let us call it Qaddhafi Syndrome.
So Qaddhafi Syndrome is the perception of Dawah as a joke or as an awkward activity of which a Muslim should be ashamed or at least be shy.

What steps should we take to overcome this psychological block?

That is the burden of this thread and you opportunity to chip-in.
aoa,
i think first you will have to give some evidence he invited people to islam. then you should also mention what exactly did he invite to.
in my opinion perception of dawah as a joke should be called TJ-syndrome because many 'educated' liberal muslims see that as a joke.
but that is my opinion and I may be completely off the track. if so please correct me.
