So using a musical instrument makes you a non-Muslim now? You haven't even questioned him or anything, but you're that willing to declare him to be an apostate? You should really ask for Allah"s forgiveness; declaring a Muslim to be an apostate is no small matter.

I think you misunderstood the brother. I think he's referring to the individual's beliefs which are more perennialism than Islam. If I remember reading, he said in an interview something along the lines of him not subscribing exclusively to any one religion.
