I was just wondering about this yesterday, actually. Growing up in the UK, it's custom here to take the groom's name after marriage, although some double-barrell it. I'd double-barrell I think, just out of respect for my family since I already plan on slightly changing my first name by deed poll to Saira

I don't know about the second question. but with regards to the first question.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf has stated that taking of the second name of the husband is a cultural practice and not an Islamic one. Islam does not say or encourage that the wife has to take the husband's second name.
