Living of milk is not a problem if it does not harm his body. The friends of Allah are not like you and me laymen that you compare them with a laymens living standards, spiritual or bodily needs. Allah would provide them them provisions that you don't necessarily see. The prophet

did live of dates at many times therefore even the sunnah of it is established by this.
