Salam Alaykum,
I need some clarification on some points:
The booklet says that as a general rule one should miss Thana if "one joins the Jammat later in the 1st Rakaat" but also it says that "If one joins the Jamaat in the first Rakaat, the general rule is to complete the Salat behind the Imam without reciting Thana".
So my understanding is that if someone joins after the first Takbeer of the Imam, then they should not say Thana. If they caught the first Rakaat then they will not say it at all, but if they missed any of the Rakaat tehy should say it in the first Rakaa of their make-up Rakaat.
Also, the booklet does not discuss the matter of how much of the Tashahud and Durood to say. From what I understand, if a person comes late (i.e. they missed a Rakaat) they should only say Tashahud without Durood for all the times they are sitting for Tashahud with the Imam in the 2nd and 4th Rakaat, and then make up the Tashahud as appropriate for the number of Rakaat they have missed.
So can someone explain whether the above is correct or is there a need for some corrections in this respect?
