Well... freedom can easily be taken through such privacy-invasive measures. As we saw in the FBI piece just recently, all it takes is a few words... just a few words and they don't even need to necessarily be in context as long as they are captured. Then the false powers that be, twist and turn, manipulate those words to mean whatever it is they intend for it to mean. If it is too peaceful and quiet, they feel uneasy and look for something to keep them busy. If political change is imminent or the false powers that be deem it necessary to stir things up a bit, then they do... that's when it doesn't matter who you are, what you really said or meant. They'll find connections and if they can't they'll invent them.

That said, there really is no point in living in fear of this. Let them toil away in their deceptive, harassing, rude, immoral ways. Truth will ultimately prevail [edit: and in some cases, not likely through the present legal systems.].
