Read the seerah by Martin Lings. It can be found here: http://www.maktabah.org/biography/68...tin-lings.html

Also, I would recommend you to stay away from refutations and debates with non-Muslims because the job of attacking is easy for them - all they have to do is concoct some lie about Islam and spread it, whereas we have to prove to them that it is a lie - and most of the time, the non-Muslims are not willing to listen. If we are not knowledgeable enough, sometimes we may succumb to the lie and jeopardize our imaan. Our only responsibility is to convey the message. Beyond that, we must realize that only Allah can guide.

So, instead of entering a field where we may end up playing with our imaan, we should first strengthen it by learning more about the deen and learning more about Rasoolullah . The only person you have to be worried about convincing is yourself so if you have any doubts about Islam, you should have them clarified before taking on the baseless accusations from the non-Muslims - and the only way to gain clarity is by gaining knowledge. Gain knowledge for the sake of strengthening your imaan, not to find arguments and refutations against the non-Muslims. Our religion is unique because the more we learn about it, the stronger we become in it.
