Brother Nomadic,
We are responsible only up to our capacity to perform.
We are not responsible for beyond our responsible capacities.
In deed many times situations arise where the requirement is beyond our capacities.
Even in such situations we are supposed to act according to our own capacity only.
A Mosque needs a million Lire but I can afford only a thousand - then that is all I am supposed to offer.
Similarly an obnoxious person comes to insult the deen - we are responsible up to our capacity only.
And so on.
Of course many things, like the attitudes of La-Madhhab people, have us in knots. It is painful. But again it is fruitless to hurt ourselves in order to give a fitting reply.
As Shaykh London suggests - please look for a Shaykh.
Many of us have a Shaykh. I do and it helps. It is a great blessings.
I used to feel shy about it - sort of feeling of my inadequacy becoming public.
But so what? Am I not a mere 'abd?
There is King.
There are Ministers.
There are officers.
There are workers.
There are servants.
there used to be slaves - thank Allah(SWT) for their current status.
Then there are 'abds. 'Abds are lower then slaves.
So why should I feel any pride and refuse to have a Shaykh?

Take care.
Wassalam
