Yesterday, I was in the airport of paris, france, waiting for my connecting flight. The time for Zuhr came and as I was a musafir, I needed to pray 2 rakaats.

Whenever and where ever I pray, I first ask the staff where i can pray. When they showed me an isolated place, I made niyah and started praying. I believe it was in the second rakat when a policeman came and started shouting at my face " Don't pray here! " Being stubborn, I continued my salah, but had to break it when he started hitting me with his night stick. Allhamdulilah, didn't get hurt badly, just some minor bruises.

May Allah make praying in France easy for other muslims.

Earlier this month I spent a night at charles de gaulle Airport (snow and flight cancellations)
There are two prayer areas, one located on each wing of the aiport.
Each one has a room for Muslims.

I was directed by the Information desk (these are dotted around everywhere)

Alhamdulillah - The two weeks I stayed in Paris were pleasant. I walked around the city wearing my thobe and praying in public places. No one said a word to me and often they would receive me warmly based on my attire. Of course there were some racist remarks but I would get those in certain areas in Birmingham as well and the warm response from Muslims more than compensated. Even those Muslims who showed no outwardly signs of being Muslims would go out of their way to give me salaam, and they were genuinely pleased to see me.

At the airport I found the prayer rooms are locked at 10pm to avoid squatters. So I prayed Isha nearby. Despite armed guards eyeing me I wasn't approached and when I glanced at them they looked away casually.

Bro, you'll find this everywhere you go.. just make sure you walk strong and smile at people. They'll soon warm up to us if we represent Islam as other than they hear on the news.

The last thing I want to do is discourage young Muslim men from visiting France. If you have a wife and family it may be different but as the representatives of this ummah we're obligated to visit these places and influence their hearts and minds. This is a form of dawah as well; as you mentioned about the way you reacted. I commend you for that!

Khayr, that was from my experience which doesn't take away from yours.
I'm glad you weren't injured bro.

As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah
