If it is full on Fridays then it is needed.
Just think of these Muslims who are not getting permission to build mosques.
If you feel some has invested too much in the mosque then just try to have the husn ad-dhann that he must have paid his Zakaat in full.
Also assume that he has paid enough to feed the poor and the needy. Just assume that there are too many poor and needy to be fed by him and he really wanted a beautiful mosque.

And it might be a sign of the end times. If this is the case then our first worry should be about our own future. In deed without signs of end times we should worry about ourselves but this approach where allowed actions of other people are questioned is not a positive one. Our own actions themselves leave so much to be desired.
Brother as a fellow muslim living in the community, I raise this awareness this issue because it matters, building mosques are not the only requirements of deen. This is no doubt ISRAF. Why does Allah keep reminding us that we do not urge the
feeding of the poor. I have attended many friday prayers not once has an imam ever spoken about giving to the needy, its always about continuous donations for our Masjid so that we can complete the expensive marble tiling. Earlier a brother saidtthat the masjid will be used for the community, yes it does get used for the community for then for Milad and naats nights. Sorry This is not Islam. This is innovation. And Assumption is the biggest problem we have and practice on a regular basis.

"Nay! But you do not honor the orphan, nor do you urge one another to feed the poor"(Quran 89:17-18)

Allah in the holy Quran says (2:215):
“They ask thee what they should spend (In charity). Say: Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and
orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, -Allah knoweth it well. ”

Hadith narrated by Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Mas'ood radhiyallahu anhu when he inquired from Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam about the SIGNS OF QIYAMAH. one of these was.

Hypocrites will be in control of the affairs of the community and evil, immoral people will be at the helm of business
establishments.
The Masjid will be decorated, but the hearts of the people will be devoid of guidance.
The courtyards of Masjids will be built beautifully and high mimbars (pulpits) will be erected.
