I think first and foremost, some type of aggressive program is needed worldwide, not only for youth but for all Muslims, to build awareness and get people back into making salat. Though I'm not sure how statistically accurate these figures are, I have heard in more than one bayan that recent surveys and studies reveal that only 1-2% of the world Muslim population is making salat reguarly. This is not hard to believe, and wouldn't be surprising if it was even less. Let's just look at our own selves and at those around us. Notice I said "regularly", not even "5 times". The rest are either Jummah to Jummah and Eid to Eid, even more only Eid to Eid and no Jummah, and even more? Nothing. Nada. Not a single salat in years upon years upon years.

May Allah save us all and give us the taufeeq to guard every single one of our salats, Ameen.

That is the reason for the downfall of the Muslim ummah. Destroying the greatest gift of salat, the greatest gift which Allah gave us after the kalima tayabba (La iLLaha iLLAllah, Muhammadur Rasulullah). Allah knows best and may He forgive me if I said anything wrong.

During the Prophet s' time and the time of the Sahaba , they had one major thing which we don't have today. They used this one thing to take from Allah's treasures. Allah put the world under their feet.

What was this one thing?

Salat.

:salam

I think you are right. I have never left a congregational prayer intentionally due to laziness, except that I've seen the ill-effect of it in my life almost immediately.
