After my long year expereinces, i can say mamatis are obviously not deobandis. they are offshoot of salafis.

Mufti Ibrahim Desai Sahib too has been inconsistent on this issue. Seems that earlier he used to favor mamati position and then switched to the Hayati side. http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...-Ebrahim-Desai
