I wonder if lucid dreaming and asral travel are the same? Sounds like it.

No two different things. Lucid dreaming is having control of your dream, being in a dream state with control, while astral travel is when the consciousness (awareness) leaves the body without experiencing death... The spirit is actually still attached to the body but part of it has expanded or extended outside the body... So it appears you have left your body, you can actually see your physical body in real time.
