Asalamalikum. It's usually also called sleep paralyses.
Lucid Dreaming and Sleep Paralysis are completely different things. Lucid Dreaming is what you have already described and discussed in this thread. Sleep Paralysis is:
Sleep paralysis consists of a period of inability to perform voluntary movements either at sleep onset (called hypnogogic or predormital form) or upon awakening (called hypnopompic or postdormtal form). http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html

To put it into somewhat inaccurate but easier to understand terms: it's like your brain waking up before your body does or your body falling asleep before your brain does. I've also heard anecdotal evidence that it occurs more frequently when one sleeps on their back (both times it's happened to me I woke up on my back), so it's even more reason to follow the Sunnah and sleep on your side, as sleep paralysis is an intensely uncomfortable experience.

edit: Don't look up Sleep Paralysis on wikipedia there are obscene images on that article, astaghfirullah.
