Tablighi Jamaat is definitely successful in presenting an Islamic atmosphere at their events and gatherings, and it's ideals and intentions are definitely well-meaning, or at least they were in the initial stages. However, in more recent times, I fear that the original self-reforming and humble spirit of it is being gradually lost. I have noticed that Tablighis these days are very cultish and pretty much engaged in bida'a. They consider going in Jamaat a necessary act of religion and look down upon people who don't go as significantly lacking in religiosity even if they are ulema or other pious figures. I'm sure there are Jamaatis who still go simply for their own reformation and benefit, but the problem I mentioned is pervasive enough within Tablighi Jamaat to warrant address.

I could go into more detail about the extent of the judgementalism and bigotry that I have personally heard and witness from various Jamaatis over and over again, but I'm sure I don't need to. Honestly, to cut it short, humility is one of the qualities not present in many many Jamaatis today. They basically think that no one besides them knows anything, and it is their job to enlighten the ignorant masses. And yes, the rhetoric of self-reformation and self-improvement is still present, but mostly, it's just lip service.
If you read the history of other Islamic movements, you will come to know that there is a life-cycle for each movement.
Beginning , peak and steady decline. Finally , vanished. May be , we are observing the phase 3 of Tablig Jamat.
