Default Is it sinful to habitually perform a Makruh Tanzihan act?

Nowadays even scholars seem to take Makruh Tanzih very lightly.

What is the position of the four Madhahib with regards to continuous performance of an act which is classed as Makruh Tanzih.

The question was asked here:

http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.a...12910&CATE=239
I heard recently that major scholars of the madhab, including ibn 'Abidin, say that a consequence of carelessly persisting in the makruh tanzihi is that one cannot make shifa'a for one's relatives on the Day of Judgement nor receive their shifa'a. Is this correct?

However, there was no proper answer given to this question.

Mufti Muhammad al-Kawthari said:
The one who abstains from it will be rewarded, and the one who practices it will not be punished. However, to make a habit of it is considered offensive.

What does it mean by ‘offensive’? Makruh Tanzih, Makruh Tahrim, or Haram?

Mufti Ahmed Desai:
Makruh does not mean permissible. Regardless of the category of Makruh, it does not mean permissible even if it happens to be Makruh Tanzihi. In fact, constancy in the commission of Makruh Tanzihi transforms the act into Makruh Tahrimi which is a punishable offence in the same way as perpetration of haraam is. The consequence of both haraam and Makruh Tahrimi is the Fire of Jahannum. The flagrant perpetrator of Makruh Tahrimi is a faasiq.

I would be grateful if anyone can mention what the classical scholars have said regarding continuous indulgence in a Makruh act.
