al-Salamu 'Aleykum,

Why did they pray in an Islamic Mosque you ask? a question that needs answering from their own books HOWEVER I do not have enough time to translate anything "Big" so you'll have to be satisfied with what you get:

al-Kulayni from al-Hussein bin 'Abdullah al-Arjani from Imam abu 'Abdullah: "He who prays in his home THEN goes to one of their mosques to pray in congregation, he shall leave with their reward."

source: al-Kafi 3/380.

Comment: meaning they pray their original prayer at home, then come to our mosques and act as if they're praying but the intention would be to make us think that they "like us" and to create the illusion of "unity" in order to spread their Madhab, and basically the Shia walks out with the Reward of all the Muslims in the mosque leaving them nothing.

al-Tusi from Nasheet bin Saleh from Imam abu al-Hassan al-Awwal: "He who prays at home then Allah shall increase his reward and double it and would raise it fifty levels, and he who prays with his neighbors(Sunnies) then Allah would write for him the reward of those who pray behind Rassul-Allah (SAWS) and he prays with them in their congregational prayer, he leaves his sins with them and takes their reward."

source: al-Tahtheeb 3/273.

Comment: As you can see the Shia takes a big reward for praying home, he doesn't need the mosque to begin with, but if he prayed in a Sunni mosque he'd be written among those who prayed behind Rassul-Allah (SAWS), not only this, he also takes everyone's rewards and leaves them his sins instead.

Ibn Babaweih al-Qummi narrates from al-Sadiq:"If you pray with them(Sunnies), then Allah shall forgive your sins like the number of those who differ with you."

source: al-Faqih 1/407.

Comment: This means if a Shia prays with the Sunnies who obviously differ with him in 'Aqeedah, in order to fool them into believing in this "Unity" then spread his Madhab, Allah shall forgive his sins according to the numbers of Sunnies praying with him in the mosque.

my opinion: let them pray, keep an eye on them and do not allow them to deliver any lectures.
