As salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah,

my GP gave me a 5 day course, would that make any difference?

Asalam wa Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

It depends on the antibiotic given and normally 5 days should also do..if you have had such infections in the past then it could be due to allergy from something such as dust, perfumes, cold weather (or change of weather/season) etc..and if not then this could simply be due to mucus accumulating overtime..in any case take warm things (also see if u can get urself Joshanda - herbal medicine for congestion's ..)
take rest and hope for the best..may Allah ta'ala grant u good health..
