That's a poor line of argument. Muslims aren't the only "interests". Every person has interests.

Again, India does not follow the absolute free speech a.k.a right to offend/insult law of the west. In India, the social interests, culture, religion,etc are all taken into account. So that would be a better line of argument.

It also comes within the broader framework of Article 9 of UN decleration:
It is not a question of arguments or their validity or merit.
Muslims are full citizens of this nation and have the right to express their dislike to their enemies and also have the right to petition the people in power to stop dogs like Rushdie from entering the nation.
