Walaikumussalam. I agree: only Allah (SWT) knows. Some of us have gone through periods of time (or may know others who we care dearly about who may be going through such a period) where we didn't pray or fast though we may have continued to be good people and continued to do good deeds. Likewise, I know there are some communities where, come the month of Ramadan, many people fast but few pray. Again, only Allah (SWT) knows.

What we do know is what Allah (SWT) has told us and that is to pray and fast (among others).

Only Allah (SWT) knows and only He can Judge. May those who have not been properly informed or those who may have been led astray, be guided to the right path. And, may Allah (SWT) judge us with Mercy and Fairness. Ameen.

Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto Thee as Muslims (who bow to Thy Will)! (7:126)
