Does a person have to follow a madhab? His answers are backed up my quran and hadith, how can they be wrong?
Shaykh Munajjid's answers are not necessarily wrong per se. The denizens of this site could not really find a fiqh question and say 'this opinion is 100% wrong,' if they wish to allow for the validity of the answers within the other mad'habs to be correct. His foundation is in the Hanbali mad'hab, departing from Ibn Qudama's view for Ibn Taymiyyah's mostly, and sometimes taking the ruling from another mad'hab if he believes their reasoning for the explanation of one hadith or another is more sound. He refers most often to al-Mughni, Fath al-Bari, Sharh Saheeh Muslim. Two of those books are not even Hanbali.

The denizens of this site would say his answers involving creedal issues (rejection of Sufism as it exists today, Athari creed, et cetera) would be wrong- and they are wrong from a Maturidi perspective, but whether the Maturidi perspective is the correct one or not should be evaluated by individuals. After all, in Maturidism the muqallid in aqeedah is a kaafir or transgressor, so clearly each individual should take a long close look at the opposing claims of each side and come to a conclusion themselves.
