I strongly believe it is the second choice. Reading the first post itself made me convinced on that.

Its certainly a possibility, but there is nothing to lose giving her the benefit of doubt. People do reject Islam. It gives us a chance to convey Allah Ta'ala's message and

we will get the reward for that. We should make Dua that both them and us are guided in the right path.
