Please could you also benefit us with some advice from your personal experiences on how to go about finding and choosing a suitable Shaykh, especially since a significant proportion of Shaykh’s and knowledgeable people in this field have clearly deviated, and cause more harm than good for the Ummah

NB: Before any Sufis protest against this generalisation, this problem is not just limited to the field of tasawwuf, but also to every other field, Hadith, Fiqh, Tabligh, Jihad, etc. such is the decadence of the Ummah. May Allah help us.
