If one of the scholars could answer a related question, that would be highly appreciated:

If someone recites fatiha wrong, to the point that
1. the recited word has altered meaning
2. the recited word has no meaning due to mispronunciation of letters

would it be better for the followers to not say ameen? or is it still better to say ameen?
