Salaam alaikom.

I am a young convert to Islam living in the Middle East. I made the mistake of Zina (I know it was wrong)... I am worried I could possibly be pregnant

& I have heard 2 things when it comes to illegitimate children in Islam: They have to take the mother's name no matter what and cannot be attributed to the father at all -or- If the man she committed Zina with marries her to hide their sin early in the pregnancy, then the child can be attributed to the father. Which one of these is right?

Also, Would it be permissible for me to give up the child for his family/him to raise?
