Salamun ala manithaba al huda! (peace on those who follow the guidance!) Maybe the following example will help you understand. Imagine the type of wife you would want. For most of us, it would be the wife who sticks with us through thick and thin, through good times and bad times. It is not the wife that sticks with you when you have a job, money, and are healthy, but leaves you when you lose your job or your health deteriorates. Do you agree that this is the type of wife you would want, the one who sticks with you in good and bad times? Would you also agree that you only find out how much your wife sincerely loves you when you face problems in life and she remains by your side? Similarly, God wants servants that glorify Him, praise Him, and worship Him in both times of ease and difficulty. Although God knows how loyal you are to Him, but as my last post points out, God puts people through tests and trials "to record in history the fidelity of His lovers to show the rest of humanity what the definition of patience, fortitude of trustworthiness is." If you want that ideal wife of yours who sticks with you in times of difficulty, then it should not be too difficult for you to extrapolate this to the ideal servant that God wants. The ideal servant bears all that comes from his God with patience. Another point, if people who believed in God and worshiped Him were given a perfect life in this world such that they had no difficulties or misfortunes, then most people would believe in God ONLY to avoid difficulties and misfortunes in this world. Therefore, to separate the wheat from the chaff, God has created a system in this world that tests people, good or bad. I hope this helps you to understand why we all go through difficulties and misfortunes. God is the most merciful and because of this, he will reward you tremendously for your patience in the next life. However, the system of difficulty and misfortunes has to be there to be fair to those who sincerely love God and display their loyalty in times of difficulties and misfortunes.
