thats what politics is. u've got to make 'sacrifices' for 'gains'.

i always wanted to say this, although its not the appropriate thread but still:
democracy can be summarised by the urdu saying 'Jiss ki lathi, uss ki bhens'(whoever has the stick, owns the cow). Stick = votes, cow = country
its all about quantity not quality. i get 5 votes,u get 7, u win. analyse further & it is found, people who voted for me were 'intellectuals'(religious/non-religious), but u'rs were some farmers in a far away village who all their lives havent set foot outside.
I have quality, but u have quantity, therefore u win.
its all about trial & error, if u vote for a wrong individual, wait for 5 yrs, then vote for someone else to 'try' him out. or try to bring about a revolution which will itself be disastrous.
