Allah ta'ala has guided you to the best Shaykh (and i say this while not undermining any other Shaykh!)

Yes a woman needs the consent of a mahram however mention your circumstances when you write to him...we communicate by email or letter every two months (or more often if necessary)...

His concern for his murideen (and the ummah in general) is touching. Its from the depth of his heart. His lectures are truely inspiring (check out www.shaykh.org ). He has been blessed with the du'a of his akaabireen and i beleive this has an affect on us too. His guidance and advices have changed my life...Alhamdulillah. May Allah ta'ala strengthen him and grant him a long life, aameen.
