you and your Imaan are doing well.
What a person reads has an effect on the heart. So one shouldn't read those book unless he/she is already grounded in the sciences of Islam and has firm belief in the heart. From what I've seen, the majority of Muslims who read those books do it to research proofs when calling Jews/Christians towards Islam or debating on a scholarly level. Sometimes things look attractive to the eye but deceive the heart. So you have to look after your heart because that's that container of your Imaan.
If you're already studying your Deen, I would just continue doing that and put that idea on the back burner for now...
