if its by Dr Israr, there would certainly be benefit in it. however tafhim-ul-quran is modern tafseer whereas ibn kathir's is classical. Also most traditional and salafi scholars have issues with some of tafhim-ul-quran's content (probably because of their differences with maulana maududi)......
your best bet would be to stick to ibn kathir (the translation mentioned above).
