Assalamu alaykum

There are special circumstances here. May be this person has not called the poor in his valima (the hadeeth says the worst valima is one where wealthy are called and the needy poor are pushed out), may be there was dance and mixing of women in his early marriage ceremony. This brother has repented and did his valima the sunnah way.

So for special circumstances special ijihadi rules apply.
